Answers: How to Reboot Your Kindle

A recent user question: How do I reboot my Kindle when it's frozen?

Here are a couple of things you can try.

First see if you can press Alt-Shift-R, which is the keyboard short cut for a reboot. If it is really locked up this might not work.

There is a hard reset button underneath the back cover.
Typically, you should not have to reset your Kindle. In the unlikely event that you need to reset your Kindle, use a paper clip or other small object to press the Reset button on the left side of the back of the Kindle. Your Kindle will take a few minutes to restart.

Other users have suggested a combination of removing the battery and plugging in the A/C adapter when just the reset did not work.
1. Remove the battery
2. Plug in the ac adapter w/o the battery (this will clear the screen)
3. Put the battery back in and let it charge
