Kindle DX is Sold Out

The highly anticipated Kindle DX flew out of Amazon's warehouse. The DX originally was sold out only two days after the mid-June ship date and was to be back in stock on June 17th. Right now the Kindle DX page is showing the device is sold out and will be shipping in 4 to 6 weeks.
This is from Amazon:

Availability: Due to heavy customer demand, Kindle DX is sold out. Please ORDER KINDLE NOW to reserve your place in line. We prioritize orders on a first come, first served basis. Note that Kindles cannot currently be sold or shipped to customers living outside of the U.S.

This really must be putting the crunch on parents who are waiting to see if the Kindle DX is something they should send to college with the kids for their textbooks. For more information about etextbooks for your computer, read our article: Options Other Than The KindleDX For eTextbooks
